The Unbeliever & The Intruder, a Short Sharp Shocks! Book, Coming This Halloween!!

IMG_20191029_000853

It’s that time of year again! Time for all the norms to embrace the darkness, smear fake blood on themselves, and go to great lengths to look ‘horrifying’, before sneering at those who genuinely love horror for another 360-ish days.

Possibly surprisingly, I’m not Halloween’s biggest fan. You can read why right here!

But enough about my Halloween Hang-ups, I have an announcement to make.

I’ve been lucky enough to have my two short stories, The Unbeliever and The Intruder, published as part of the excellent Short Sharp Shocks! collection by Demain Publishing. Mine is to be book 39, a number which I have no real connection with, but am now seriously considering having tattooed on my forehead.

These stories will be unleashed on this puny world this coming Halloween! What, you want a link, you say?

You didn’t, oh well here’s two anyway, one for the UK Amazon, and one for its US compadre.

The ebook is only 99p/99c so what are you waiting for? OK, a little more description possibly.

The Unbeliever is the story of Mike and his family enjoying a holiday in NOT Disneyland. Mike’s a bit of a grumpy pants who doesn’t really get into the full party mood that’s expected of him. He just can’t believe that people can be that enamoured by this ‘fake’ magic and ‘out of work actors in animal costumes’.

Oh, Mike Mike Mike. He really shouldn’t have been such an unbeliever, because those who work at NOT Disneyland don’t take too kindly to people like Mike.

This one contains quite the splattering of gore and loss, actually they both do. Obviously!

In The Intruder we follow Toby as he gets to grips with being a new dad. For any parents out there I’m sure you’d agree that sleep is a thing not often experienced in those first few months. Well this lack of sleep is really affecting Toby’s sense of reality.

When he awakes on the sofa and finds an intruder in his home, he becomes extremely protective of his family. The imposter soon becomes the victim as Toby lives out a hitherto sadistic nature.

But Toby isn’t getting much sleep, remember? So his grip on reality is kind of not that firm. Just what is he really doing?

I can’t say too much more, as then you’ll probably not bother purchasing the stories. OK, you may not anyway, but I hope I have entertained you here none the less.

I’m so bloody excited about this release, I hope to disturb and disgust many minds!

Thanks for reading.

  1. That IS exciting news.

I understand what you’re saying about Halloween. It changes depending on my mood, but as I type this, The Tomb of Ligeia with Vincent Price is my fave horror movie.
